The Rope
I was running,
fast and determined;
happy and hopeful
into an abyss of fog with
everyone else who were brought
into life the same year as my own.
And we were all running;
all at different speeds than others
but my eyes were only looking ahead
and so I was stopped by
the rope
that only hit my waist but somehow managed to shield
my whole body from moving
any farther.
Even the slow ones eventually passed me;
unaffected by the rope.
But I,
I was still fighting
while everyone else ran
ahead.
