A Dream Come Alive
Black, caressing, sweeping around me
A blanket of stars that shines high above me
Hiding the shell of my eternal self
Allowing my spirit to run wild and free
A dreamland alive, with no one to see
Such majestic sentinels I’ve never known
As the twisted, crook’d oaks in the forest, alone
And the sounds of the waterfall sing through the night
While the jewel-colored blue jay
Is startled to flight
Moonlight illuminates coarse, shadowed fur
Glinting off amber eyes, honey-made stone
Black ghost of the darkfall – beware his long howl
He’ll persuade you to stay in his kingdom forever
Alongside this beautiful, dangerous specter
There are things worse than living a dream come alive
Things worse than staying for all mortal time
And this place is so peaceful, I think I might sleep
Drift back to reality, chaotic, but still, when I wake
Back to where I belong, where I’ll always be safe
