Her Monster
Hidden beneath chains and locked doors
Comes out of the closet "one last time"
To drink poison from cans and bottles
Secretly awaiting her arrival into her room
There, (and when fully drunk), it would take out
The anger of its "wasted" life on her
Screaming over and over "you're just getting what you deserve"
She never understood what she had done wrong
And she never will; But she did know that
The monster would slowly return to normal
And by the next day, it was back to being
A lump on the couch. Nothing scary.
So from then on, she knew she had to call
Her monster by its real name
And that was "Daddy"
