Empty Glass
An empty glass
Was once full
But it didn't last
Over time it was drained,
Little by little
Until nothing remained
A person would drink
And down, down, down
The water would sink
And then to take
Would come another
Making the glass pay for another mistake
Over the years
The water would lower
Because it spilt tears
Now everything's gone
And the glass
Is finally done
They still come around
But there's no water left
In which the glass can drown
They continue to take
When there's nothing else
Except for the glass to break
And when the glass is shattered
Maybe they'll realize
Everything they said actually mattered
Or maybe they'll laugh and yelp
Because nobody was there
When the glass needed help.
