So Much, So Little
I love you so much
 Because I understand you
 So little

I want you to breathe me in
So I can travel through your mouth
And figure out how your sighs
 Make that soft sound
So full of thought and consideration
Seriously – how do you do it?

I want to fill your lungs
So I can hug your heart close and tight
And see what it is that makes it –
 Skip – a – beat –
 Or slow…way…down…nice
 Orspeedupandpoundhard.

I want to run through your veins
To feel what makes your blood boil
 And your pulse race
 And your body temperature rise
 Before it turns cold

I want to embrace your infrastructure
 The bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments
So I can experience what holds you together
Because you're all that keeps me
 From falling apart.

I want to vacation in your brain
 Relax in your mind
To observe the world as you do
 Comprehend how it works
 Ride the pathways of neurons
 Traverse the bridges between sensors
 Follow the linking system
 Until your very end

As much as I want to do all of these things
I don't want to know, almost
 Because your mystery is wonderful
And not being able to understand
Makes it kind of sort of magical, in a way

You never cease to amaze me.
