Standing high up to the sun,
Smelling the warm, light breeze,
Life was full of fun
Shaded by the trees

But the green grows dark
Their form dissolves
As they return to earth, Hark!
The evening bell drawls

Or there’s another road:
I stay strong through time
Life goes on in the cold
Ashes buried mine

As the years go by
Silver replaces the emerald
My last mortal sigh
New dawn hails the herald

No longer soft and fragile
Life is no longer a game
Living stone is eternal
Now I’m immune to your pain

This poem is about growing stronger after adversity even when others do not.
