Ode From Your Notebook
I was a part of something bigger once,
That tree where the birds lived,
Providing shade for passers-by
But now, I’ve made my home at the bottom of your backpack,
Or on your desk, or by that junk on your bookshelf
It exhausts me, that wear and tear
You’ve shared with me your heartbreak,
Your disappointments and successes,
That algebra homework you just couldn’t get
I’ve been your all-purpose friend,
A bookmark, scrap paper, and
That note you forged from your mom
- yeah, I remember that -
But did I ever let you down?
I may not be your beloved diary,
But don’t you forget that
I’m your favorite notebook,
So you should show some respect
