I love the dusky autumn
Wreathed in gold and red
Just like an old crush I had
Handsome while I bled

First glance, the trees don’t seem like much
But on a closer look
I saw the kindness in the branches
The cover’s only the front of the book

I wandered through the forest
Hour through hour, day after day
Hoping for the trust to confide the secret
Of the heart of the forest, to show me the way

The trees were not cruel
They showed me the wonders of the forest
But into the heart I was not allowed
Forbidden! the trees sang in chorus

So when I saw the white wolf hunting
I sank with despair
I saw to my horror as she went
Into the heart of the forest to her lair

I let the fallen leaves bury me
Let them choke my sobs
This was how the animals found me
Fulfilling their friendly jobs

At last the leaves fell
And the trees lost their glory
I tried to forget in winter nights
Tried to lose myself in someone else’s story

Stupid as I was
I went down to the bare trees
Turned right back around
And waded back through the leaves

My heart tried not to shatter
My mind tried to forget
That I had seen the white wolf standing next
To the tree I once met

And although I’ve lost my love for them
And ignore the beauty in the trees
When I think back to that autumn
My heart races with the bees

He was my best friend, now I don't know what we are anymore. I wrote this poem because my stupidity made me lose that friendship, made him hurt me. I still think of him sometimes.

First of all, I like Hazel and Lorax, they sounds like real names, like my username is a real name(although it's not my name) but I don't really think they fit you. I don't think bard fits you because that is usually referred to an old man so I vote for Liz. It's short and sweet and convenient and it fits you because it is you.

I agree, I this is the best poem I've written so far.  I wanted to write a poem that wasn't so literal in it's meaning.

Putting a confident hand in the air, my vote is 'Bard.'

LOL I actually like the whole bard idea just icosahedron was too long.  I like it, makes me feel like Shakespeare.  Ok a vote, Liz or Bard?

Yeah, what about what Stargirl said-- except Bard, for short?

The language in this is really the prettiest of all of your writing, I thought. And the story it tells is so real, that one knows you wrote it with artistic honesty. The power of the words themselves as well as the symbolic motifs almost erase the traces of awkward wording, which is a really good thing. Because it is the content that counts, of course. Well done!

I was thinking of the kimya dawson song 'Tireswing.' (He says, shuffling his feet sheepishly).

I do, but they are based upon my real name which I would rather not post on the internet.  The two names that Raven came up with that I sorta liked were Hazel and Lorax.  Can you draw upon that?

I like it when people can relate, it just adds to the poem as a whole.
