The Color Blue
Fireworks that light the night sky
Frosted sugar cookies on the 4th of July
The sparkling coast on an August day,
The glow of a snow storm,
The place where I pray
Blue is that lonely feeling of doubt,
Having some troubles, feeling left out.
Blueberry muffins and Bluebell ice cream
Texas bluebonnets and bluebirds that sing
Blue is the spray of the sea below,
The view ahead, the places I’ll go
Blue is my favorite old pair of jeans
Covered with holes, nearly ripped at the seams
The vibrance of sapphires, the sparkly frost,
The feeling of hope when all is lost
The blue shorts I pass in a cross country race,
The way you can talk till you’re “blue in the face”
Blue is simplicity, grace, even style,
The peace we receive from surviving our trials
My favorite blue pickup, the smell of the rain,
The University of Notre Dame
Blue are the mountains from afar
And blue is the background for fifty white stars
It’s the perfect accent to grassy green.
The simple word “blue” can mean anything.
