In My Head
Woke up this morning on my best friend’s couch
Remembering last night I try to sleep again
It’s no use, you’ve gotten in my head
I just don’t understand what you said
I don’t care if you want it kept quiet
I don’t care if you don’t want to label it
I’m not even sure what it is
But I know I’m happy like this
I know I like being with you
Your hugs and teasing jokes
You’ve as good as said you like me too
Then why no answer when I asked you?
Flashing back to last night
I play it over again in my mind
Hugging on the stairs, you kissed me
And I asked you what to tell them
All you decided to say
Was that I should be mysterious
All very well keeping them in the dark
But being the one you’re kissing on the stairs,
Couldn’t you give me a straight answer?
Now I can’t get you out of my head
And you’re gone until tomorrow
I have mountains of things
I know I should be doing
But of course I can’t concentrate
I remember our day yesterday
Laughing in the sunshine
Cheering for our teams
The fun we had
And the fun we plan on having
Then why the twisted answer?
It doesn’t matter, we’ll talk tomorrow
It’s no use, you’ve gotten in my head
