Too Young for my Opinion
You say, “I’m too young for that.”
I say, “Too young for an opinion?”
How can I be,
Too young for my own thoughts?
Is there an age,
Where you can start to think for yourself?
What does a couple of months do?
Do I change so much,
In such a short time?
Turning 18 makes you an adult,
Your opinion matters,
You can vote,
Buy weapons,
Graduate high school,
Get arrested,
Smoke.
Thinking that one day you can’t do this,
Then, suddenly, you are old enough to?
Over night I change that much?
Saying you will only listen to me,
When I become a certain number.
Mom
This is ridiculous,
I have ideas and dreams now,
My opinion matters.
