Bus 24
Staring out the window
Enjoying the warmth of the heater
And noticing
The bus stop we are paused next to
While the light remains red
I study the individuals
(Two)
Who wait for the bus
One woman
And
One man
She has short, black hair
A curly crew cut
Has a grey hoodie
And dark jeans
Chocolate skin illuminated by the streetlight overhead
She listens to the man
Humoring him
With her company
White, doughy flesh
Contained by a cream-colored jacket
And baggy, light jeans
Hands gesture wildly
As the bald man attempts
To explain his irrational point
As I look at this interesting pair
The woman looks back
Having briefly turned her head
Bright, kind eyes
Laughing at whatever the man
Is attempting to say
Laughing only in her eyes
Seeing me see her
She smiles
And winks at me
Just as the light turns green
And the car rumbles away
With me wondering the name
Of the girl
At bus 24
