Garden of Distinction MAG
I wonder how you are going to feel
when you find out
that I am me instead of you,
That I took the time to finally mention
the awkward elephant
and decided to poach it – leaving the tusks.
Your disbelief when the oak's acorn
grows into an apple tree,
a turtle's egg is hatched a fish.
Before a car was ever purchased
you had mapped the route
and projected the conversation at each rest stop,
but I wanted to talk about foreign imports
and the solution to global warming,
yet listened to your view on the Rapture,
and I was only wondering
if you could see my face
the way you could see Bill O'Reilly on the news.
The bugle is sounding out loud and clear,
a long-locked door forced open,
my voice booming in your ear.
Will you be surprised or have you been content
with ignoring it?
Will the lighted fire burn your picture to ash?
A free spirit in place of your religion,
Recluse versus socialite
and red waves eating yellow spaghetti.
I wonder if you'll be able to understand
and accept me for
what is me and get to know me for the first time.
You created this reaching sunflower
from a traditional rose,
and they blossom side by side in a garden of distinction.
