SunLIGHT
You know
my dreams,
whimsical as
they are,
my hopes
silly as
they may be,
my past
spotty as it is.
Your
my friend,
friends share
everything
from the
deep dark
cave
we bury our denials
in
to
the
beach
reflecting all the good
I’ve done
like
the sun replicating
off the water.
You think
you know
me
you think
you do
but
honestly
You have no
clue!
For secrets
I have
kept
to
Hide
from the truth,
secrets
I will never
Reveal
to you.
But it’s not just
me;
ask yourself
do you truly
know
anyone else?
All have
secrets
a common
denominator
all share
Hard to admit,
But
That’s
The
First
Step
Right?
I admit
to hiding.
I admit
to running.
I admit
to lying.
Still…
it’s not just me,
we all
hold back our
true-self.
We let
little bits
seep through the
c r a c k s
but
we always
retreat
before it can
all be seen.
It’s scary,
that’s why,
to give it
all
no matter who
despite the
fall.
The true reason, still,
is that
you
have something
no one else does.
A
secret
you contain
and that
is the
HARDEST
of all to let go.
Like
paper to rn
into pieces,
would
you give
it all up
if that was all
you
truly had?
Not to
mention the
criticism,
if I showed
you what was
written
on the paper
would you
still
be my
friend?
I doubt
I would
stick around.
You know
Me,
the ME,
I let you
see.
I know you,
the same
way
you know
ME.
But SOMEday
I will set
MYself free.
The paper
will be in the
air
setting as confetti
in my
hair.
You can read
it then,
I won’t care.
All my
secrets
Revealed.
I could
crawl
from the
cave
letting my toes
rest
in
the
sand.
SunLIGHT
grazing my face
for the
first
time in my
life.
