Forgotten
This is for those
who are forgotten
The girl left out
as meat for gossip
The boy picked last
for the
football team
The soldier labeled
Missing
In
Action
This is for the
The child told to
“grow up”
The babies in the orphanage
the prisoners in neon jumpsuits
left behind bars
guilty
or not
This is for the genius labeled
crazy
the girl who hurts alone
This is for those who have no-one
The gray wraiths
that glide along
behind the rest
the forgotten are
shadows
naught but whispers,
scraps of the past
The forgotten
are secrets
kept down, hidden away
always there
yet
not seen
But they must be remembered
So to all of you who feel alone
stand
And remind the world
who you are
For if you do not
I fear
You will always remain alone and forgotten
left in the closet
with the rest of your kind
Societies skeletons
