Morning & Mints
She wants that bittersweet taste
Of Morning & Mints
Pressed against her tongue
Now STOP
The whole world is frozen
As she traces the patterns of truth
Against the arches of his back
And GO
Someplace she’s never been
But altogether always been
Her, Him and that invisible friend
Spending warm, sticky nights
On the porch swings
Rocking back and fourth till
Morning comes
The sun is up
And that bittersweet taste of
Morning & Mints
Presses against her tongue
And STOP
The whole world is frozen.
