Runaway
I am but a runaway,
Only when my sky’s change to gray
And I wish to fade away
From common fears and pain filled dread
And the path that lays ahead.
I am but a runaway
Love ones beg me to stay
But I live for the next day
Of bare feet on solid ground
Where not a soul hangs around.
I am but a runaway
Sleeping soundly in grazed hay.
Listening to sounds of the jay
As it flies from tree to tree
Soring higher as met to be.
I am but a runaway.
Will you beg me to stay?
Or shall you watch me fade away?
Will you let me put bare feet upon the grumbling ground?
To fly high without a whisper or sound?
I am but a runaway.
