Keep Going
As my steps grow larger
My walk turns into a sprint
I don’t look back
I can’t
I just keep going
It’s getting harder to breath now
Everything has gone black
I just keep going
My breath gets shorter with time
Till I can no longer gasp for air
I collapse to the wet stone like roots below me
When I wake
I’m no longer outdoors
I look around but I see no one
I run for the door
And don’t look back
I just keep going
I can hear foot steps behind me
Panic sets in
I start to run faster
I can hear them catching up
Next thing I know
I’m face down on the roots
When I stand up
His hazel meets mine
And once again I run .
