For You
For the words that are spoken
The noises that are made
That which we communicate with
To free our thoughts
From our brains
To the heart we speak
The soul we pray;
For the tongue that twists and turns
And forms syllables and vowels
To taste every sweet and bitter voice
And create music with the chords
We all own
But we all must learn to use;
For the lips that kiss
And hope
And dare to speak the wishes
And dreams
That takes our long lost words
And turn them to sentences;
For the writers and the whisperers
Who take what they own
A piece of themselves
And give it to the past
Sacrifice it to the future
And set it on fire for the whole world to see;
For the learners and the teachers
The preachers and the worshipers
For the broken thoughts and taped up wounds
The aching hearts and black patched heads
To the brand new parents and the brand new baby
The failing students and the hopeful friends;
The world is meant for you.
