Shadows

From the ashes they rise
From the darkness they emerge
Like the phoenix they never die
They can only be seen in shadows
That's all they are, shadows
But they are always there
Even in the daylight
They never leave
But never come
They don't need to
You can sense them without seeing
You can hear them without feeling
They are our fears, the restraints we put on ourselves
Without them we become the shadows
They are the darkness that gives us light
They are the shadows that give us life
