Behind My Eyes
It hurts when they throw
those words at my skin
As if I don’t feel
As if I don’t grin.
It burns when they splash
My face with those lies
Like fiery breath
Extinguished by cries
It stings when they break
My heart into two
So shattered and down
Can’t fix it with glue
It sears when they strike
My mind with false thoughts
And make me feel weak
And win at all costs
Yes they brought me down
With anger and many lies
But they will never get
The light behind my eyes
