Black tendrils
Move to curl around the gray
Move to encase the safe zone
Lighter tones are chased away
Frightened by the darkness
Paint drips down the canvas
It is carelessness
But far away
A splash of red
Attempts to interrupt
This shadowy symphony
Unfortunately artistic intervention
Is too little too late
