I Have Become
Something changed, my love, something that I can’t explain,
I don’t know why or how or what or when, but hell, it broke me.
I was so damn happy, I was so damn free.
From reckless and careless
To hopeless and joyless
I have become.
Don’t get me wrong, don’t think I’m sad.
I hardly know the feeling at all, actually.
I don’t know the term “feeling” any longer.
From peaceful and appreciative
To emotionless and heartless
I have become.
What broke me; I’m afraid I’ll never know.
But it hit me hard, these pointless tears.
Lately, I’ve been forgetting to breathe.
From full of life and ambitious
To jaded and careless and emotionless
I have,
Unfortunately,
Become.
