Step outside,

Smell the crisp air after the rain,

Taste the spearmint gum in your mouth,

BUT WAIT!

Don’t you dare

Spit that gum out on the ground.

Think of us,

the trees.

Think of the bees.

It is spelled in clarity,

How much better the world will be,

If you don’t spit that gum out.

Don’t litter,

You quitter,

Quitter on the world, that is...

Don’t poison our roots,

Don’t scream in cahoots,

Without a care in the world

While our leaves curl,

Dry and alone.

Our demise lies on your shoulders,

Weighing down like boulders,

Impossible to ignore

If you wish to avoid

Being destroyed

By this tragic scale,

Just stop...

And think...

The next time you

Impulsively throw filth

Down to the ground

Clench your fists

And don’t let that sin

Touch the rich soil

Of Mother Earth...

And with this lesson learned

We bid you adieu and say...

Happy Earth Day!

Sincerely,
The Trees
