Seven
Seven. That's how long it's been.
Years are a long time
And yet I still cry
Seven. That's how old you were.
Years are a short time
And yet you still died
Seven. That's the age I had.
Years, not a long time
And yet I still felt
I felt the pain
I felt the loss
I was so young
Yet so filled with love
At first I didn't know
I thought you would come back
But when I realized
God, I loved you to the moon and back
Seven. Wasn't how long I knew you for.
The time was short
Yet the feelings not
How can someone so young
Know exactly what she needs
How can someone so young
Feel something so deep
Seven. That's how long it's been.
Years are a long time
Too many thoughts have crossed my mind
Yet I still don't know why
Why did you have to
Why did you have to leave
Why was it you, so young and naive
Why do the thugs still live
While you're gone forever
I still don't get it
Although it's been seven
