What You Don't See
Before you stands a girl with a pretty smile and a playful laugh.
Her eyes are perfectly made up and glisten when she smiles.
But when she gets home, the smile fades
And the makeup is washed away by the tears that run down her face.
The girl you see is confident and social,
But when you aren't looking, she is shameful and avoids eye contact with strangers.
You see a student who works hard and gets good grades in school.
But when she gets home, she cries for hours over math problems that she will never use because SHE believe that she will never amount to anything.
She puts on a fake smile so no one will see the pain behind those pretty made up eyes.
Because if they knew that she was hurting, they would ask what was wrong, which would cause attention and attention is the VERY last thing she wants.
So how do I know all of this?
Well, because "she" is me.
