Infinitely Tired
When I look at the faces in the photographs
They look so infinitely tired.
Hands up
Black and white.
Guns pointed at their tailbones.
So tired of life
Yet desperately wanting to live.
Tired of
Insomnia and fear.
Tired of scalding throats screaming
But not being heard.
Never being heard.
Purple bags in the hollows of eyes
Plum colored and soft.
Seeing children’s faces mutilated by fear and confusion.
This is the ultimate pain.
This is the ultimate defeat.
Wanting to sink into the deep crumbly soil.
Never see that twisted, scared face again.
Of their child.
Of their baby.
They are so infinitely tired.
