the world is breaking on the edge
of my tongue, and my fingers can’t stop
shaking
the words we meant to say are shrieking
screaming clamoring at our feet
and still we split the earth
once for the broken souls
twice for the blind eyes
the plates are shifting beneath
my feet and I can smell the chaos
it forms a whirlwind around me and I
collapse inward
there is debris in our future, but we
keep saying there’s
development
I wonder how long we can continue
to weave elaborate lies
