Lanterns Like Stars MAG
I'll find you one day, I know.
Sitting in the dappled shade of a bougainvillea tree
Legs sprawled over the grass,
Laughing up with the sun in your eyes.
And we'll go, you and I,
and eat strawberry ice cream in the sun
Letting our toes sink into the warm sand.
And we'll talk, or maybe we won't
just walk, and dream of all the world ahead.
Hand in hand, in smiling quiet
Watch birds swoop low over the sea.
You'll be there in the evening
With a tissue paper lantern in your hand
The soft candlelight reflecting off your face,
A small imp clinging to your leg
tousle-haired, adoring
And fix the glowing reds and blues
Among the trees like stars
And come with me to sit and sing
While your guitar hums with the twilight.
