The reality
Last week I dreamt that we got married,
The beach themed wedding I had always wanted,
The smirk on your face as I strolled down the aisle
Reassured me we were meant to be
The night after that I dreamt we had children,
The pitter patter of feet on our new fern wood floor,
I wanted to name her Lisa but you insisted with Ruby,
Which kind of makes sense, she’s precious and she’s ours
I continued to dream of how our life would be like,
How we’d grow old together, whether our love would survive,
Would we divorce, or would we ever cheat,
But it was perfect, my life was complete
Today I woke up to a new reality,
The one where people like you and me don’t belong,
Where black and white refuse to mix,
Where your parents would never live to see us together
