Poison
Your knives cut my skin.
Glinting in the face of the flames,
you outline my face with the trickle of my own blood.
My lips are inseparable.
You've sewn them together with a thread of your lies,
And now my words can't save me.
Your poison pulses through me.
Like angry, black smoke it runs through my veins and burns!
The pain simmers on my boiling skin.
My heart is my enemy.
It burns in the dampness of my body cool,
and you are the igniter.
The pain is unconquerable.
I cut, pull, tear, at my heart;
Anything to get it out of me!
It's a killer, and you are it's leader.
I rip it out and throw it at your feet,
where it belongs.
Dropping your weapons, you pick it up and walk away.
So do I.
