Prayer
As I pray
To God tonight
I wish I may
I wish I might
That tomorrow might not
Be full of pain
But gentle as
The summer rain
And the world might live
And keep its face
Not violently breaking
Like fragile lace,
Happiness would not wait
But readily come
LIke an orphan
Who has found a home,
That joy would come
And replace the yells
That echo, echo
Like a resonating bell
The storms would wait
Just one more day
And love would come
And hear me pray.
As I pray
To God tonight
That I might get my wish
When dark becomes light.
