sixteen years
at sixteen years
the most magical moments happened
thus far in my life
I believed in fairy love
and happy hugs and seldom lonely nights
at sixteen years
so young, no naive I remain
with my first love.
he brought roses and daffodils
with charm that knocked on my window panes.
at sixteen years
I learned the most I ever did
about who I am, what I want, and what I had.
But also what I lacked.
at sixteen years
I felt euphoria
but also my greatest strife.
discovered new experiences
new places, new feelings in my life.
and so I thank you, sixteen years
although I know they cannot last.
this year has been indescribable.
and maybe one day our paths may cross again.
but until then, I simply say,
hello to seventeen.
