Dragonfly Jewel Box
My heart is a diamond
Beneath the grit of anger
And the stains of sadness
Around the cracks from where
I did the wrong things
My heart is a tiny shattered mirror
One teardrop away
From becoming dust
So I keep it in my jewel box
Along with the anxious dragonfly
That is my soul
Fluttering about
All emerald wings and confusion
Not a moth
But not quite a butterfly
Delicate wings beating
Against my opal birthstone walls
When I die
They'll bury my poor precious diamond
And my dragonfly will go free
Soaring out of the broken jewel box
That is me
