You and I
Into blackness—
Spiralling deeper and deeper beside you.
Down, down, down.
Left, right, out of control,
Changing shape below humanity.
Across the shimmering black hole
In which we are sinking,
I reach to you.
My hand grasps yours,
Interlocking eternally.
Your fingers were made
For the empty spaces between mine.
Warm to the touch,
My hand envelopes inside yours.
Our fingers slip.
Dramatically, you are torn away.
Ripped from my grasp,
I scream.
You’re not beside me now,
You’re gone.
