I Am New York City
Once bustling and bright,
welcoming all those
who call themselves
dreamers.
Once calm and unsuspecting,
going through the motions,
unaware; not yet heralded as
victims.
Once rocked by tragedy,
by planes scrapping skies,
covered in the ashes of the
fallen.
Once broken, suffering.
Not one to stay down for long,
determining the goal of being
survivors.
Once rebuilding, using the wreckage
to remember the fallen,
and relabeling ourselves as reborn
dreamers.
