His locker will forever remain
closed.
His room will never be
cleaned.
His cap and gown will never
leave the sealed package.
His name will never be
spoken
unless preceded by
"Remember when" or
"In memory of".
His friends will see him
once a year.
And even then it won't be him,
but rather
a stone representing him.
A stone whose marble surface bares
no resemblance
to the familiar face in the halls.
His laughter
will never be heard echoing amongst his friends.
He will never ask the girl a few lockers down to prom.
He will no longer make memories
because he will forever be
the memory.
He will never be someone's shoulder to cry on,
a teammate to play alongside,
or a father.

However, to him the importance of sending
"Im cming 2 get U"
to a waiting friend was more momentous than the life he
could have had
and the oncoming traffic that he would swerve into.

His mother will weep as she

packs away her childs clothes.

He won’t need them.
His father will put away his baseball mitt

reminiscing when him and
his boy played catch.

He will only ever be
In Memory of.
