December Frost
I met you in the red and orange hue
of the autumn season.
You were like a predator
hunting for it's prey.
Out of a crowd
you sought me out.
Soon the frost of December
covered the landscape.
I fell in love with you
along with the snowflakes
on your eyelashes.
A love that burned like the
summertime heat
melted the snow.
It lasted as long as
you continued to live.
Once you faded into the dull grey
of January,
I was left still and alone.
My soul has been frozen in the memories.
I am still in the month of December
when our love was still lit.
My body is covered in the frost of December
right in the last place you kissed me.
I am frozen here in my
bittersweet nostalgia.
And here I will stay.
