On average you will look in the mirror eight times per day,
but you never truly see your reflection.
You see a distorted image of it.
You see what society demands of you.

You see yourself as
too fat
too skinny
too tall
too short
too pale
too dark

What you don’t see is
the happiness your smile bring to everyone you meet
the intelligence you radiate as you walk into a room
the drive and determination you have when you want something

What you don’t see is
how much of an impact you have on others’ lives
how much you are cared
how much you are loved

What you don’t see is who you truly are.

The author's comments:
I think that many teens, including myself struggle with image. Society has these "standards" that we all think are required for us to be beautiful. In reality, none of these things define who you are as a person. Everyone is much more than they think they are worth and I want everyone to realize how much of an impact they have on others.
