Fury and Fear
When you were calm
and level-headed,
you told me to tell you
when you lost your temper.
But when you lashed out at me,
you transformed
into a stranger,
blinded by your own anger,
drowning in ire.
I sat
wanting nothing more
than to retaliate
but bit my tongue
and absorbed your hate.
I asked you
one question;
you stomped
in indignation
and turned away.
I never found the courage
to warn you
to watch your temper,
like you advised me to,
when you were calm
and level-headed.
