Journey
I'm that brittle leaf
that falls into pieces
when you pick me up
and leave me speechless
I'm that old sock
you wore holes into
tatters and tears,
into the trash with you
I'm that dripping faucet
that can't stop leaking
fall and break apart
you like the sound of me seeping
I'm that old t-shirt
expected to still fit
I'd rip at the seams
you'd enjoy it
I'm that fire that rages
free, strong, and true
burning down the old
to make way for the new
I'm that escaped butterfly
vibrant colours shown
it took being bound up
to know I could have flown.
