Relearn
I need to relearn
My ways of soft socks
And soft looks
And soft locks of hair
Of snuggling up
Without a timer
To remind me of my obligations
I need to relearn
The hum of our laundry room
And bare lightbulbs
And home
Writing in the shower
Verses in my head
Clean as the subway tiles
Of porcelain
I need to relearn
To kiss the way I want to
To look through my own eyes
No longer am I some
Daisy Buchannan
I broke those mirrors long ago
I need to relearn
My non-fear
To untangle the fishing net
That cut into my skin
I will reopen the world
I once lived in.
