No battle for Lions
The corner seat is dark.
Welcoming,
because the only thing worse
than being talked to
is being seen.
The hallway is better
then the cafeteria.
Because silence is distracting.
anyway there’s nowhere to sit,
all the tables are taken
The girl is talking,
but her words are lost
in the sound of her smile.
She asks a question.
The english language is forgotten.
The challenge is avoidance.
A minefield of people walk past,
Someone says hello.
Game Over,
Again.
The phrase:
Don’t be shy.
is infuriating.
This can't change, it's not a choice.
Being shy is fine for now.
The battle fought
cannot be fought by will.
Because just a will doesn’t make a way
you have to forge your own.
Lions can’t do that.
