Burned Delight
Pick apart the spirit
Of a buried body laid down to rust
Scavenge beyond the surface smiles
The batted eyes
Fingertips brushing against elegant shoulders
Find the internal dappled sunlight leaves
That have fallen from the trees
leaving imprints deeper than flesh traces
Tear through muscle tissue
Until you find footprints
Love
In the most unexpected places
Let the echo fill empty corners
of gloomy attics
Claw past envy
Deceit
Bookmarks at the wrong chapters of a life
Search for the child
The curious purity
With small hands and wide eyes
A completely different human
Dig down
With a brave shovel
To the bone outlined with weakness
Fear
A philosophical approach
That has been stored away
Hidden behind love and rhythm
Behind tears and contaminated solutions
But do not be dissapointed
If you only find
Ghostly whispers of what you seek
Because nothing is forever
Nothing stays
There is always an excuse to leave
Even skin sheds
Bones wither away
There are only memories
Stored somewhere high above
Where stars burn in delight
A response to the human senses we expose
In silence
At night
In the darkness
Never in the light
So yes, you still exist up there with me
Replaying everything again
Our ghosts are interconnected prisoners of fate
So my shackles
Will also be yours
As my body begins to rot
The pictures grow more vivid
They become the past
And although death is upon me
So are you
You and I
In our own little forever
