Dark Rain
The strangled grey of the sky
Stands on its own
For fear of light shed onto its morose kingdom
Which obeys
In fear
In sadness
In the lack of hope
That has flown so far away
Not even the sailor’s telescope
Could spot its shape in the distance
Banished by a golden finger
That has locked the sun away
In a cage of rain
The birds do not dare sing
For the tune they have in mind
Is best saved for kinder days
