The Guardians of the Innocent
Repetition, insignificance, and sorrow.
Life was dull, meaningless, and harsh.
Before Nebuchadnezzar hope was scarce.
but with his ideals Babylon sprouted ...
Wandering, wishing, wanting--
The city flourished and soared like never before.
Nebuchadnezzar enriched the air with life.
The scenery swayed from bleak to beautiful.
Pretty pinks, beautiful blues, and glowing greens ...
Wandering, wishing, wanting--
After four decades Nebuchadnezzar’s reign ended.
The greens turned to browns, and the ups turned to downs.
Life was sucked out of the city as quickly as it had come in.
The Babylonians wept for their leader to return--and the gardens as well.
But was it ever there?
Maybe one day we’ll know for sure...
Wanting, wishing, wandering--
Laughing, Living, Loving--
--Babylon--
