A Cheeky Poem
I thought I saw you in a dusty book
Stalking inky blots like Carraway
But wasn't it all just a clever hook
With your chocolates and cabernet?
You never were that fancy
But I told you awfully politely
Please, you're lovely anyway
I thought I saw you in the sandy dune
Burning in the ultraviolet
Your 4x4 left tracks in the afternoon
And wrote my name in Letraset
The heat has turned me ruby
Or am I blushing much too fiercely?
See, you have me in a daze
I thought I saw you in a rocket ship
Forming branches of the universe
You kissed the stars with your rosy lips
And I stood to gain that curse
Your black hole eyes have got me
I can't escape your gravity
Look, you've caught me all the way
I saw you walking in the brick school hall
With your only shadow hand-in-hand
You came near as I felt my stomach fall
But I thought you might understand
So I asked you if you'd meet me
And you smiled back so unlikely
"Yes! How about Lay Ter in the day?"
