The Feast
Special day is ready to begin
Memories anxious to happen
Grateful for what we have
And what we’ll experience
In the life to come
Waiting at the long table
Alongside family and friends
With luxuriant seasonal decorations
Ready for the meal to begin
Sitting in the chair
With an empty white plate
The pearl napkin ready in your lap
The silverware staring
Just waiting to be picked/lifted up
Sniffing the heavenly golden scent
Of the crackling warm meat
Seeing the fluffiness of the mashed potatoes
Filled with a flowing flood of homemade gravy
The slice of bread with a perfect
Pad of white melted butter
Cranberries jiggling in the bowl
Finally all the food is set
Waiting to be dished up/served
Almost too much to handle
But there is still one more thing
The family prayers
