Paint Me
Your colors mix and blend with mine;
yes, your colors
if you don’t believe me that’s fine.
But your hopeful yellow brightens my blue,
lifting me up when my mood falters.
And when you see angry reds that blur,
I hope I give you what you need
a soft soothing white to conquer
all the negativity inside
so together we can proceed.
Sitting next to you is purple.
Calm and clear,
bringing my thoughts into a full circle.
My mind is quiet and sure
when you are near.
You paint my moods far and wide,
pushing away the normal worries
that stand by my side
to help me see the gentle green of life.

I was inspired to write this piece when my friend described what it's like to "see red" when he's angry, and I decided to match up our moods with colors to paint an image of our interactions.
