The Elephant
Standing mere feet away she glared into the lion
she stomped and shouted--her son!
With haste
the lion sprang its dance,
clawing ribbons, a marvelous pattern, that was her child.
A cry.
A roar, immense and heartfelt.
She bellowed, her orchestra began.
A drum echoed her stampede--shaking the earth’s core,
Then a sharp whip of a violin ceased her symphony.
The musician stood.
She surveyed the stage--
Her rage doused with sorrow.
He, lie broken.
Anger aside, the musician fled the stage
and staggered
towards her beloved son.
